Who we are
We are a small, select group of English and Spanish linguists — among the best in the industry — located in the Philadelphia area. We are all native speakers of the target language. We are members of and accredited by The American Translators Association, the National Association of Judiciary Interpreters and Translators, the Administrative Office of the Pennsylvania Courts - AOPC, and the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters.
Our Team
Maria Weir, born in Colombia, has a BA in Social Communications from Universidad del Valle in Cali, Colombia. She has worked as account supervisor for Centrum Ogilvy y Mather in Colombia, Leo Burnett in México City and Dancer-Fitzgerald in New York City. She is an English-to-Spanish translator and interpreter with more than 18 years of experience. Maria has translated legal, business, educational, medical, advertising and many other items from English to Spanish. She has interpreted more than 2,000 hearings at the Immigration, Social Security, Workers Compensation, Arbitration and Mediation Courts. She also handles depositions, pre-sentence investigations, witness testimony, immigration interviews, 3-way calls, and video remote meetings.As a logistics expert, she has organized visits for Latin American delegations, handling all aspects from accommodation, transportation and scheduling to meetings requiring interpretation in a variety of business and social settings. As an active member of the DVTA, she has organized many different seminars and working events for the organization.Maria served as assistant administrator of the Interpreters Division of the ATA. She is a board member and chair of the events committee of the Delaware Valley Translators Association, and a Legal Certified Interpreter by the AOPC.
Lia de Roux has a BA of Arts from Pontificia Universidad Bolivariana (Medellín, Colombia) with a Masters in literature from Universidad Javeriana (Bogotá, Colombia). She has worked as cultural advisor and literary critic for a variety of Colombian Government agencies, newspapers and magazines. She has designed and authored educational programs for reading comprehension skills in children and young adults. She is a recognized as an author, book critic, and editor for several magazines and business publications..
Anthony Weir is our English editor, with a BA in English from Duke University. He spent many years as creative director and agency head for Ogilvy & Mather and Leo Burnett, the world’s two most creative and successful advertising agencies, which included 14 years working in Venezuela, Mexico, Hong Kong and Argentina. He is fluent in desktop publishing.
Spanish Services is a select group of specialized linguists dedicated to the translation of documents and interpretation services from English to Spanish and Spanish to English.
